- Production of this season began on September 14, 2020.
- On December 31, 2020, it was announced that production of the eighth season of Mom had been delayed due to a surge in COVID-19 cases and the show would be going on an extended hiatus, returning January 21 instead of January 7 (with production resuming January 11 as opposed to January 4).[6]
