Episode Description[]

Christy cries while serving wine to customers at the restaurant, a waitress hands her a birthday cupcake and she sighs before she cries again while wishing an elderly woman named Ethel a happy birthday. Chef Rudy tastes food and critiques his staff. Gabriel informs Christy that her manner while serving is inappropriate, he tells her to take the rest of the night off, Christy says she has children to feed so he offers her complimentary food on the restaurant to take home. Christy tells Gabriel that a customer insulted her by complimenting her waitress skills calling her a "good waitress", which Gabriel agrees she isn't. Christy complains that she wanted to be more than a good waitress and continues working after shocking the entire staff by calling the risotto "a big steaming pile of gooey rice". She serves another customer (special guest - Jon Cryer), after he orders she inappropriately tells him how his food will be cooked.

She goes home after work and while in the car, she sees Luke climbing out of her daughter's bedroom, she goes inside and Violet comes out of her room, she pretends that Luke wasn't over and that she is still a virgin but Christy breaks the facade telling her not to lie to the woman who washes her sheets. She tries to give her the sex talk but it goes wrong because Christy herself has done worse things that she doesn't want her daughter to do and begins to come off to herself as hypocritical. Violet stops the conversation by going back to her bedroom. Christy takes Roscoe to his own bedroom as he tells her that Violet and Luke kissed and took a shower together to her annoyance. Roscoe reminds Christy about his talent show, however when he realises she has to work he tells not to worry because he isn't talented anyway. Christy feels bad and tries to talk him around but Roscoe wants to sleep. Gabriel comes around to Christy's house and they kiss, however she throws into the bushes when Roscoe calls her. She opens the door again and apologizes and warns him when the sprinklers come on.

The next morning she arrives at Roscoe's school for the talent show but is told it isn't happening, she then complains she lost a days work of pay for no reason. She opens the door to Roscoes class and he shrugs it off and tells her he must have got the day wrong. Christy tells his class not to tease Roscoe about the mishap and closes the door but loudly swears so the kids still hear her.

She attends an A.A. Meeting and blames her Mom's alcohol and drugs problem for having to be there due to being messed up by her Mother. Once she finishes she sits down, a woman rhetorically asks her "Aren't you too old to be blaming all your problems on your Mother?", Christy turns around and realizes the woman is her Mom. They go to a diner and talk, Bonnie tells Christy that she is doing better and has become the woman she used to hate. Christy still critiques her and makes backhanded comments due to still being mad although she's doing better. Bonnie reveals that she talks to Violet and knows that Christy is sleeping with her boss and is hanging on by a thread. Christy tells Bonnie that she doesn't want Violet and Bonnie talking, Bonnie tells Christy that Violet needs someone because Violet is sexually active, smoking weed and drinking, she then compares Violet to Christy. Christy becomes mad at Bonnie for turning it around on her, Bonnie says she forgives Christy, this angers Christy more because Bonnie should be the one apologizing to Christy not forgiving her. Christy lectures her and gets up and tells Bonnie to stay out of her life and stop talking to Violet. Christy leaves and Bonnie flirts with a waiter.

Christy comes back to the restaurant to confide in Gabriel but Gabriel's wife-Claudia-interrupts them. She goes back home to find Baxter and Roscoe playing video games. Christy asks Baxter what he's doing in the house, Baxter asks her why he can't just visit Roscoe randomly, Christy reminds him that he's six months behind on child support. Baxter leaves the game to talk to Christy. He says that he thinks he found a way to pay his child support but he asks her for $2,000 to be able to do it. Christy asks him "Just so I'm clear, you wanna pay child support by borrowing money from me so you can buy pot?", Baxter corrects her that he's selling pot. Luke comes out of Violet's bedroom shirtless and interrupts Christy and Baxter. Christy asks Luke why he's here and Luke tries to lie and say that he's studying, although the lie is obvious, Baxter questions Christy's parenting with Violet and says that it sets a bad example for Roscoe. Christy hits back at him as a father, reminding Baxter that he once made Roscoe pee into a sippy cup so that he could pass Roscoe's urine off as his to pass a drug test, Baxter shrugs it off and tells her that it worked. Gabriel comes over and tells Christy he can't divorce Claudia because her father owns the restaurant and could fire him. Christy closes the door on Gabriel to deal with Violet. Violet criticizes her Mom for sleeping with Gabriel and Christy criticizes Violet for sleeping with Luke. Violet defends her relationship with Luke telling Christy she actually loves him, Christy tells Violet that she once loved Baxter. Violet tells Christy that she and Luke have been together for a year but she only noticed them dating when she stopped drinking. Christy apologises for not being there, Violet refuses to forgive her asking her why she should forgive her considering Christy can't forgive Bonnie for doing the same thing. This makes Christy start trying to forgive Bonnie so Violet will forgive her. Christy forgives Bonnie over the phone and asks if Violet can forgive her, but Violet realizes that for her it's not as easy.

Bonnie comes over at night to make dinner for Christy, Luke and Roscoe, Christy comes home from work and Bonnie makes her tea and they talk. Christy tries to get Bonnie to apologise for being a bad Mother but she doesn't, she instead says she's going to start being the good Mother Christy deserves. The door bell rings and Bonnie exclaims she has a date. Christy whispers "New chapter, same book". Christy sarcastically greets Bonnies date calling him Dad. Bonnie tells her to behave because he's too young for Bonnie and he's married. Bonnie leaves and Christy comments "Married!? What a whore". Bonnie quickly comes back to open the door to tell Christy briefly that she forgot to tell her that Violet thinks she might be pregnant, to call her if she needs to and leaves again.

Quotes[]

Chef Rudy: More butter and salt. They only need to live long enough to pay the cheque

(at an A.A. Meeting)
Christy: Hi, I'm Christy and I'm an alcoholic.
Group: Hi, Christy.
Christy: I've been sober 118 days. *group appaluds* Oh, don't applaud for that. They've been the worst. The only reason I'm here is because, uh, I didn't want to turn into my mother. And I did anyway. Yeah, I drank like her. I went through men like her. Um, I was selfish to my kids just like she was. And I didn't know how to live any other way because she was my only role model. I mean, some mothers teach their daughters how to bake. Mine taught me how to beat a cavity search and still feel like a lady. Anyway, thanks for letting me share. And I cannot tell you how comforting it is to be in a room with people who are just as screwed up as I am!

Trivia[]

  • Roscoe is seen playing Grand Theft Auto.
