Abstinence and Pudding is the sixth episode of Season 1 and the 6th episode of Mom.
Synopsis[]
Christy is determined to take things slow in her relationship with Adam.
Meanwhile, Bonnie and her rival from A.A., Marjorie, disagree on what "taking it slow" means.

Episode Description[]
As Adam drives Christy home he shows her a stop sign and explains that he processed the paperwork that allowed the stop sign to be there. Christy points out another sign and Adam says that another guy in his office that he loathes did that. They joke and Christy tells him that she wants to take things slow, he accepts this but questions how slow. Christy reveals she doesn't want to have sex until she gets to know him better. Adam offers to take her hiking and he explains away how much he likes nature and she daydreams having sex with him in the car. She comes back to reality and tells him he's amazing. They say goodnight and Adam says he's looking forward to the hike but Christy wasn't paying attention and didn't realize what she agreed to.
In the diner she tells Marjorie what happened, Marjorie congratulates her on sticking to her plan. Bonnie arrives and there is tension between Marjorie and Bonnie. Christy informs Bonnie that Marjorie gave her advice, Bonnie explains that she could give great advice to which Christy informs her, she really can't. Marjorie explains the advice she gave Christy and Bonnie questions if Adam is okay with it but tells her that if he is okay with it, there must be something wrong with him. Bonnie informs Christy to do a drive by: "Cruise by the general vicinity. Send your knee on a fact-finding mission". Marjorie agrees with this and Christy thanks Marjorie and leaves. At work, Chef Rudy reveals that the pastry chef quit because he stopped having sex with her. Gabriel requests him to hire a new male pastry chef, Chef Rudy tells Gabriel that the pastry chef being male won't stop him from having sex with them. Gabriel tries to talk to Christy but Christy tells him to find someone else to cheat with, suggesting Chef Rudy, who overhears and doesn't seem to mind the idea.
At home, Violet asks Christy for advice: Luke doesn't want to have sex with her in case he hurts the baby. Christy tries to give her advice about certain positions for Luke, but physically can't talk about her daughter in a sexual way and leaves instead.
Adam and Christy kiss in the woods but it begins to rain so they find a house, Christy breaks it in and they get cozy in the living room of the house. Things begin to get romantic and Christy calls Marjorie for help because her plan is getting off track. She goes back inside and talks to him, Christy reveals that this is the first time she has not immediately jumped into bed with a man and was scared they'd leave if she didn't. Adam informs her that it's good they're waiting. Christy tries the knee technique that Bonnie suggested but Adam realizes what she's doing and offers to just show her if she's that curious.
At home, Violet and Luke talk about their issue. Christy arrives home and Violet encourages Christy to tell Luke that he won't hurt the baby, however she knows that if she tells him he can't hurt the baby, he'll have sex with her, so she opts out and leaves. Later, Bonnie, Christy and Marjorie meet at the diner to talk about Christy's issue. Marjorie tells Christy that if a man won't wait to have sex he's not worth her time, Bonnie disagrees with this and insults Marjorie in the process.
Christy goes over to Adam mad at him for not texting or calling, however he reveals that he sent her flowers and she never communicated back, he informs her that he dropped them off with Gabriel who promised to give her them. Christy kisses Adam and leaves to find Gabriel. At the restaurant, Christy becomes mad at Gabriel, who admits that he got jealous and gave them to his wife. Chef Rudy brings Christy a pie, she questions why and he hints to throw it in Gabriel's face, she does so and walks out of the restaurant.
At home, Christy, Bonnie and Violet eat yogurt and talk. Bonnie questions if Christy still won't have sex with Adam, which she affirms but doesn't want to talk about it. Bonnie then asks if Luke is still afraid he's gonna hurt the baby, Violet defends him but also doesn't want to talk about it. Bonnie then reveals that she slept with a vice cop and "yes I do wanna talk about it".
